XVIII International Coal Preparation Congress has been opened in the Mining University

The opening ceremony of the XVIII International Coal Preparation Congress has taken place in the Multifunctional Complex "Gorniy". The representatives of the largest profile companies, ministries and departments and also scientific communities from 25 countries of the world have become its participants.
More than 900 Russian and 400 foreign delegates from China, India, Poland, Australia, Great Britain and other countries have taken part in the forum. Among them - Alexander Novak the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Litvinenko the rector of the Mining University, Igor Albin the vice governor of St. Petersburg, Mr. Liu Feng the vice-president of China National Coal Association. The main objective of the congress is to assess prospects of technological breaks connected with creating new products obtained in the process of coal preparation and also business strategy development directed to increase industry efficiency performance.
The fact that the universal proved coal resources by 5-7 times exceed oil reserves emphasizes the special importance of the Congress. It gives a good opportunity for Russia to keep leadership in the energy sphere in the post-oil era. Currently new technologies allow to compare profitability of oil and gas extraction from remote fields and production of by-products from coal. For example, fuel suspension is environmentally friendly suspension capable to replace traditional hydrocarbons in life support systems of many countries.
Within the opening ceremony the welcome letter of the Russian Prime Minister to the participants of the forum has been read. Particularly Dmitry Medvedev noted that this event "united representatives of scientific community, business and authorities from various countries of the world, will allow to discuss solutions of the most significant industrial issues, draw up plans for the future". The Prime minister mentioned that the participants should discuss such tasks as the profitability growth, decrease ecological aggression, enhancement of railway and port infrastructure, increasing safety level of miners. The rector of the Mining University Vladimir Litvinenko reminded the audience that "the main engine of progress is to invest into technologies but not in resources". Due to this reason the future of the industry is connected with creation of new high-technology products.
During three day's section meetings of the Congress the delegates will exchange experience of implementation in production of new technologies of coal conversion, discuss issues of decreasing cost value of such projects, approve the measures directed to increasing safety of enterprises, plan necessary environmental actions. The total number of reports delivered at the congress is about two hundred.
Up to the forum closing ceremony the exhibition of the mining and processing equipment will work in the university. The stands of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, Indian coal society, such companies as Schneider Electric, Metso, BASF and many others are presented at the exhibition.
